My friend, Buddy Bethea, posted this picture on his website, showing his boat (a Nordhavn 55) running at 9.4 knots burning only 5.3 gallons per hour. That’s very impressive, as is his trip odometer. Notice that he is now at 10,500 miles! Buddy took delivery of his boat only a month before we did, and we’re just over 4,000 miles. I need to catch up! Currently our boat is in Cabo while we’re in Seattle enjoying a family Christmas. Our next journey doesn’t begin until Jan 20th when we start the big trip to Costa Rica. Buddy just completed the same trip but screamed down the coast without stopping to enjoy. He was on a mission to get to the east coast of the US as quickly as possible. Roberta, Shelby and I will be taking three months to make the passage, exploring and enjoying life along the way.
