MV North Star Update

This is just a quick update. I’m mostly sending it to pass along a link to the video below.

Our boat, North Star, has been rafted to a sailboat named Allegria for the last week. A couple days ago they decided to “go for it” and started heading towards the passage. Our trip doesn’t start until Friday, weather (and ice) permitting.

Of the boat’s going west to east through the Northwest Passage this year, Life Explorer is the farthest along. They have currently ventured as far east as they can go without waiting for more ice to melt.

Allegria has a live webcam that is well worth checking out. They are in an ice field as I type this. Their website is https://vueltavertical.com/en/ and the live feed from their boat is below.

It’s getting exciting!

That’s it for this update. Unless something interesting happens, my next update will come to you from on the boat in Nome!
