Yesterday, I mentioned a 44′ Krogan going across the Atlantic now, alone. Their update from today has some surprises in it. 1) They are going direct to Horta. This is a passage of over 2,000 nautical miles. I had thought they were going to Bermuda. And, 2) They mention that their radar has failed, and that they are using the AIS as backup. They are experiencing heavy fog. Personally, I would NOT want to run 2,000 miles, with fog, and no radar….
As to my boat, I’m trying not to think about it. The shipping company promised to update me on Monday (two days ago) with my new shipping date, and hasn’t responded yet. I hope I’m just being paranoid, but I’m starting to worry. It’s hurricane season, which makes it difficult to run the boat north on its own bottom, and if the shipping company doesn’t come through…?
